As I was driving to work this morning I heard the forecast for a winter weather advisory. The advisory begins at 7 p.m. today and runs until 7 a.m. Thursday. My heart sank when I heard the news because if it’s accurate the roads likely will be icy tomorrow morning.
I started calculating the number of days left until spring and my spirits fell further. By my estimate there will be at least 120 days of potential weather-related road problems. That’s assuming that I’m commuting five days a week and that the weather warms by mid-April. If it’s a late spring, the roads could be challenging for even longer than that.
I’m not ready to wave the white flag and concede to winter, yet, though. I figure we could still have some nice weather this month and maybe November will surprise us by being warmer than normal. Since all of it is beyond my control, I guess the best thing to do is take it a day at a time and deal with whatever comes my way.
